One of the first recordings Horton produced/engineered (also played on) was an EP for Norah Jones in 1999, in New York City. Her raw and youthful talent inspired him to do two sessions with Jones. Some of those tracks ended up on the desk of Blue Note Records President Bruce Lundvall. The rest, as they say, is history.

What kept Horton on the path of becoming a producer was the sheer joy he found in inspiring and capturing great performances from original and talented musicians. Horton has a pure approach to producing. The only (polite) demands he makes of an artist he works with is that they provide honest and soulful performances. He takes care of the rest.

More of Horton's production work can be heard on the Composer page and at Soulsearch Music.

PIANADELPHIA - Philadelphia Jazz Tribute Volume One

                                                                                                                                                      PIANADELPHIA review:

"This superb recording is the first in a projected series featuring Philadelphia Jazz musicians. It consists of specially recorded, solo piano tracks by some of the finest Jazz pianists currently residing or performing in the Philadelphia area...Like a set of fine China, PIANADELPHIA is characterized by its craftsmanship, delicacy and sheer beauty...The microphone types and placements have captured the music with perfection. What you hear is a pure distillation of modern Jazz piano, without extraneous sounds, crowd-pleasing effects or the disturbing imperfections that occur even in some studio settings. The recording was obviously a labor of love for Horton and the pianists, and nothing but the highest quality would do...No reverb or compression were used at any time during the recording, mixing or mastering."
